A performance art piece inspired by the “Free the Nipple” movement, which stands against “female oppression and censorship in the US, and across the globe”. This piece not only critically comments on the sexualization and censorship of female nipples, but also pushes the boundaries of what is legally and culturally acceptable. In the US it is effectively illegal for a woman to be topless (breastfeeding included) in public in 35 states, yet public male toplessness has been legal since 1936! The Free the Nipple campaign aims to highlight and eliminate the sexual objectification of the female breast and to allow women to have as much free control over their own bodies as men enjoy.
