In 2009 I gave a talk at H+ entitled “How 3D Computer Vision Will Change Everything”. Now my talk is more along the lines of “How 3D Computer Vision IS Changing Everything”. The creation of high quality and cheap 3D capture devices such as the Kinect is making a lot of previously hard computer vision problems easy, and we are starting to see the extremely broad range of applications of this technology, including gaming, navigating virtual worlds, household robotics, user interfaces, augmented reality, and 3D environment capture.
