We’re drowning in information. Tomorrow there’ll be more relevant information available to you than ever before, but you’re not going to find it. The size of the haystack is growing faster than the amount of needles, and if we don’t find a way to fix our filters, we’ll inevitably drown. In science, continued acceleration of progress depends on our ability to make use of the insights of our peers and those who’ve come before us. If scientists can no longer find and read the research done by their peers, progress might slow, and with catastrophic consequences, since we might lose our ability to fix our mistakes faster than we make them.
Our filters are failing fast and it’ll take a radical new approach to build new filters that can keep up with exponential growth.
Paul Bohm has been working on scalable filter design for over 8 years and will explain the problem, discuss the failed approaches of the past and present, and explain how a new approach to filter design might just change the world.
