T Chendil Kumar or CK is the first speaker today after the lunch. CK says that “speaking after lunch is tough because audience can sleep but he cannot”. His speech always enthralls the audience. CK begins by saying that this is the first time that no body has referred to his age before calling him on the dais. once one speaker introduced CK to the audience by saying that although he is 60, he is so youthful at heart. CK was a bit upset but his wife told he used to be 60 but not now. age is a question of mind over matter
CK agenda for today’s discussion is “how we can use relevant situation humor in striking a rapport with the audience” First and foremost we have to enjoy what we are doing then we can establish rapport with audience
power of humor and ability to attract audience with somethings that they know is really great.never underestimate the power of good humor. CK talks about 1.observe – look around what is happening in life. for instance a board outside a parlor in US said “do not whistle a girl coming out of beauty parlor because she might be your grandmother”
- analogy – example ” you reading a playboy magazine with your wife turning the pages.”
CK does a SWOT analysis of himself strength – my wife weakness – my neighbor wife opportunity – when neighbor is way weakness -when i am away
CK gives another instance of a profession who is 60 years old and marries a 18 year old. Using this examples he cites a illegal and logical example
60 year old marrying 18 year old – logical student dating his professor’s girl – illegal professor giving grade “A” for stupid material – illegal and logical
CK advises to practice good, cool and clean humor. he says humor can be tremendous value add in business presentation. Humor should not be far away from continent. Use humor which can be connected to the audience, since it will be memorable and will improve your reach to the audience.
Another instance CK shares on the usage of humor is “a priest orders a tea that costs Rs15. Priest gives 100 Rs for the tea to the waiter and waits for the change. After a long wait priest asks for the change. Waiters says to the master that change comes from within”
CK end’s the speech by saying “decision to change comes from you. spread the cheer , be happy and make others also happy
